Dr Nishan Dixit
Teeth are stained by the foods and drinks we consume. Smoking further stains teeth and the natural bright, white shade becomes darkened. Teeth whitening is a successful and simple method of lightening the colour of your teeth. The degree of whiteness achieved will vary from patient to patient and with the type of bleaching process chosen.
A whitening gel is placed in a custom - made tray which you can wear whilst asleep or for short periods during the day.
Results are normally seen over 2 weeks.
Teeth whitening from our dental practice in Harrow is one of the simplest and easiest ways that you can start to lighten your teeth and feel more confident. There are few treatments within dentistry that are suitable for everyone, however teeth whitening is one of the treatments which can be used with the greatest number of people.
There are a few times when teeth whitening is not indicated, this is particularly if the health of your teeth or gums is not good. If you fall into this category then we will recommend a course of dental hygiene to ensure that your gums and teeth are ready to be whitened.
If you have crowns, veneers or dental implants then these two will not lighten. The teeth whitening bleach will only whiten natural teeth and will have no effect on crowns, veneers or implants, so if you have any of these we will need to discuss your options which will either be to accept that these will be slightly darker than the rest of your teeth, or we may have to replace them altogether to match your new whiter teeth.
